Mauritius Equity Watch | 14 July 2015: SEDMEX adds 14bps, SEM10 up by 17bps but DEMEX index fall by 18bps
Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa):- Mauritius equity markets ended in green today. The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) rose by 0.14 percent or 2.73 points to close at 1,947.78 points and the SEM10 index traded at 370.23 levels, after adding 0.17 percent or 0.65 points.
The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 216.549 billion. The overall total volume trade was recorded at 10.702 million with total valued traded at MUR 46.008 million.
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings Mauritius by exchanging 8.999 million with total value traded of MUR 7.829 million and New Mauritius Hotels registered 750,799 million securities at MUR 14.375 million. CIM Financial Services Limited had 601,300 traded stocks at MUR 5.079 million and MCB Group ended with a total volume of 58,936 at MUR 12.389 million.
From the market sentiment/breath perspectives, there were 7 price gainers and 7 price laggards. The price gainers were Air Mauritius Limited gained 5.71 percent to end at MUR 11.10 and CIM Financial Services surged by 1.25 percent to close at MUR 8.10. Likewise, New Mauritius Hotels ended at MUR 19.15 after advancing by 1.06 percent and MCB Group accelerated by 0.60 percent with a closing price of MUR 211.00.
On the laggards’ region, CIEL Limited Mauritius tops the losers’ league table, by falling by 1.41 percent to trade at MUR 6.98 and then followed by ENL Commercial Mauritius which summersaulted by 1.40 percent to trade at MUR 21.20. Also, Mauritius Union Assurance went down by 1.33 percent to settle at MUR 74.00 and Mauritius Development Investment Trust plunged by 1.12 percent to end at MUR 5.30. Also, United Basalt Products closed at MUR 81.50, by falling by 0.61 percent.
The DEMEX index ended red, by losing 0.18 percent or 0.36 points to close at 207.00 points. The market capitalization was recorded at MUR 49.198 billion and total value traded was MUR 1.962 million exchanged in 57,011 traded securities. SODIA gained 16.67 percent to trade at MUR 0.35. On the other hand, EUDCOS slumped by 3.10 percent to close at MUR 1.06, CIEL TEXTILE Limited ended at MUR 37.50, after falling by 1.06 percent and HOTELEST went down by 0.13 percent to end at MUR 37.15.
